Sizing & Spacing: Chandeliers/Pendants


We advise choosing a light that is no more than 2/3 the length of the kitchen island.

Side Note: Always allow 6" between objects and edges.


Island pendants should be spaced 30" apart and 6" from the edge of the island or table.

Side Note: Make sure to keep a distance of 30-36" above the island.

When using multiple fixtures space them 30" apart, but make sure to leave 6" from both edges of the island or table.


Chandeliers should be sized more than half the length but less than 3/4 of a round table when hanging. Leave 30-36" between the bottom of the fixture and the top of the table.

Light should extend 7 feet from the floor to the bottom of the light.

Chandeliers should hang at least 8 to 10' from the ground in two-story foyer’s or room’s with high ceiling heights.


Fixtures should hang a minimum of 7' from the bottom in single story foyers.


Chandeliers should hang down a maximum of 30-36" from the top of a bed. Ideally, chandeliers should be 1/3 the size of the bed, and 70-84" from the ground.

Side Note: A bed height is typically 16-24" high.


The optimum height for hanging fixtures over night-stands is 30-36" and 12" away from the bed.


Pendants should hang 30-36" above the top of a bed. Ideally pendants should be 1/3 the size of the bed, and roughly 70-84" from the ground.


Space pendants 30-40" apart when placed between mirrors, make sure the bottom of fixture is aligned to the center of the mirror.


Fixtures above bathtubs should be kept 60-65" from the ground, clearing 30-36" between lights and tub.

Side Note: Always choose a fixture suitable for damp locations.
